And I urge you not to answer truthfully if you are ever asked 'do I look fat in this dress/these pants?' Especially after you're the one who brought most of the food into the home at Christmas, yet managed to gain 20 grams or so over the entire season.

A weight gain of only 20 grams in one family member would be guaranteed to start many a domestic dispute, riddled with angst.

True enough. I purposely lost 20 pounds between August and November in 2011 and promptly picked up 13 of them over the winter holidays.

Still came out 7 pounds ahead, which was good. And that word 'purposely' is impressive.

I'd be able to afford eating and putting gas into the jalopy if not for your generosity. But I'll be the first to admit that physical sustenance and urban ambulation are perhaps overrated.
