Are you sure we never met, you didn't follow me into a record shop? You're not one of my old mates? Because I have 49 singles and 40 odd LP tracks from your list.
I'll be back and fill in the "missing" gems tomorrow, its going to take some time! The white funk list was bad enuff!

I may not forgive you for this. But I put together my list, which of course has a lot of your songs on it. However, I have 52 that I prefer to 52 of yours; and cutting some of yours off of the list is what cut me deeply because many of them would be the next song on my list. I would add 99% of both your lists to mine.
I thought I'd have been the only one to put the Grunt by the JB's, Most people over looked this track and its one of,if not their best tracks. Love the common ground here too. Of the 1000's of tracks we could have added there seems to be a very similar opinion on the 100 best tracks. While I was doing the list my mind went back to the record shops and what I bought from where and the labels, Import or UK releases.

I just had a flashback to riding the school bus when "One Nation Under a Groove" would play on somebody's boom box and 50 kids would sing it in unison. This happened for weeks. If I had to pick one song as my favorite funk song, that would probably be it because of that memory.

Just to let you know Splank, I kinda used one list to make up for the absences of the other list. What isn't represented on the singles list is probably represented on the album list and vice versa.

I missed off Fence walk. I had to miss off Treble what I did list. I bought that the same day I got Payback both on US import from the Contempo record shop, home of Blues and Soul Magazine. Late 73/early 74 I cant remember the month! 40 years ago!

Tell me about it. Me and My brother on the Christmas leave train home Dec 78. Beers in one bag, blaster in another. Un wrapped both and managed to sing One Nation and drink without upsetting anyone!
We started a conga line to One Nation on New years eve 78 straight thru' the dance floor and 300+ joined in, It was ace!
