    For Moms Mabley Fans

While I'm still peeved Whoopi didn't do the Celia Cruz biopic this
looks interesting. Since I don't have HBO I'll have to wait for it to show up
    on dvd, I guess...

Saw Moms at the Uptown and the running joke was that Georgie Woods was her man. She said Georgie was such a good man, he would go to bed @ 10:00p and then get up and go home! Moms said the only thing an old man could do for her was to bring her a message from a young man! She said her husband was soooo old that when he died she told them to burn the ashes! We loved Moms in Philly.

Yep Nosey, I remember her telling the old man/young man joke at the Apollo.
    She was a scream!

Saw it on HBO last night, brought back some great memories of old Apollo show biz acts, Moms was a gas!
They showed the clip from "Playboy After Dark" which I remember seeing back in 1969 when she sang "Abraham, Martin, & John" but also added Bobby, it was very moving and heartfelf in her delivery, brought tears to my eyes.
