Just something I noticed... 100 artists in 144 pages; but no dimensions given yet for the book.

UK Amazon has a 10/7/2014 release date. They quote pre-ordering charges but they only show shipping costs, etc. to European countries, no price indicated for US purchasers. It will be available 4 months earlier in the UK so I intend to order it from them. Hopefully they will keep the issuance on time.

For me the best book in this genre is "Motown The Golden Years", by Bill Dahl and the late Weldon A. McDougal III.

Most of the Posters @ this site could probably do as well a job, as the author of this book. But just like the endless repackaging of the "Greatest Hits" on CD. Some young person is discovering this music that is near and dear to our hearts, I say, go to it!

You seem quick to criticise on all subjects even when you have not even had the opportunity to critique a product - how do you know that 'Some young person is discovering this music that is near and dear to our hearts' this could easily be an expert for all you know and his age is irrelevant.

Mr. Nixon, have I become an enemy of yours? I was not being critical, I believe I said go for it. If you are at this site, you have more knowledge of things Motown than any 10,000 people. Given that there are 100 artists in 144 pages, I would not expect an in depth description of each artist. But because it is new, someone may purchase that does not need more than a little over a page per artist in describing the artist.

    Paul, I still love you!

And wow, 100 artists? I guess i dind't realize there were that many. As mentioned by Carole; 100 artists at 144 pages doesn't leave room for a lot of depth. So basically it's a Motown 101.
