I want Ben`s one!
"Do You Want To Go With Me", "Lucky Lucky Me", "You`ve Been A Long Time Coming" and Marvin & Mary "Let`s Talk It Over"
Motony you beat me to "I`m Crazy `Bout My Baby" - great song.
For both Marvin and the Motortown set as they are both 12inches tall and are too cumbersome. The Motortown set also has updates.
I wish they would release a compact version this set and also "The Motortown Revue Collection" with additions.
One of a very few Ace releases that I won`t be buying. Two reasons: Nothing new or alternative and I don`t like mixed Motown/others on a disc.
I`m enjoying mine. It`s nice to hear Gladys live on "Take Me In Your Arms And Love Me" and "Just Walk In My Shoes".Worth admission for those.
Thank you nsoule for sharing with us, it`s great to hear 2 more Contours songs.
I have 2 others:
"Strung Out" by Gordon Staples & The String Thing and "Soul Sounds" by Chris Clark.
They are superb and similar to Ace`s releases. Chris Clark`s has an alt. stereo mix of "Do Right...
I`ve just ordered mine.I`ve heard Gladys Knight & the Pips "Grapevine" and it is good.It will be worth just for the Marv Johnson songs. He could be singing to a studio tape.
Plus: "I`ll Be In Trouble" / "The Girl`s Alright With Me"
"Since I Lost My Baby" / "You`ve Got To Earn It"
"You`re My Everything" / "I`ve Been Good To You"
"Stop The War Now" / "Gonna Keep On...
Also: "Going To A Go-Go" / "Choosey Beggar"
" It Takes Two" / It`s Gotta Be A Miracle"
"Trav`lin Man / "Hey Love"
"If This World Were Mine" / "If I Could Build My Whole World Around You"...
My worst nightmare!
Great news but I won`t be buying the HDH disc as I don`t like outside covers of Motown treasures.
It`s like drawing a moustache on the Mona Lisa. File under garbage.
You are dead right Bill, my most humble apologies.
Paul it would be even better as an Ace release with a few alternates!!
He possibly had something to do with "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" but I doubt "Ain`t Too Proud To Beg" as it was written prior to January 1966 which is before he was at Motown or so I believe.
The other songs he wrote / co wrote were:
"Please Return Your Love To Me" Temptations.
"Sad And Lonely Feeling" Jimmy Ruffin.
"Somebody`s Waiting For Me" Contours.
"This Love Will Never Die" ...
A very tragic story. He certainly wrote some great songs. Thanks Gary.
He also wrote:
"Were Gonna Be More Than Friends" Spinners.
"Do You Love Me A Little Honey" Gladys Knight & Pips.
"When Love Comes Knocking At My Heart" Tammi Terrell , Marvin Gaye & Tammi...
It as the same opening as "You`re Good Enough For Me" by the Versatiles [[Fifth Dimension) [[M. Gordon/R. Jimenez) produced by Marc Gordon.
Bring back Ben!!
I`m not a big J5 fan but I`m pleased that I have it. A couple of interesting alternates and unreleased material. Did you manage to catch up with "Natural Resources" ?
Woodward it is available as 2 on 1 disc along with "Black Magic"
