Here is something really nice, really special that I missed until now. As we reflect on Marvin Junior and all the great music the Dells gave us, I thought I would share this documentary about the group:

Mary you are most welcome. What I don't understand is how the media never latched onto to such greatness, leaving the legendary Dells basically "unsung" for the most part. Lovers of good music always knew how great the Dells were.Quote:

It really is a great documentary. In 2005 "The Dells: Oh What A Night" won "a Chicago/Midwest Emmy in the category of Outstanding Achievement for Documentary Programs - Documentary or Cultural Significance."
I purchased it right away and have frequently watched it; what a fantastic group!

Nice info. :) I always love those oldies bios. :) I knew the original Oh What a Nite sounded weird because I definitely didn't hear Chuck on it. Chuck has such a significant bass. So it wasn't just Harvey and the New Moonglows that he joined haha. Glad he stuck around with the Dells too though. :)Quote:

Midnightman, you're correct. After Johnny's death, they practically stopped performing, and completely after Marvin passed away two years ago.

Been a good while since I viewed this docu, I still say the Mighty Mighty Dells were Mighty Mighty Good!! :cool: Always loved them and have seen them perform a few times.
