In The Midnight Hour: The Life & Soul of Wilson Pickett
I am currently reading this recently-released book, authored by Tony Fletcher, and thought it might be of interest to some of you.
As someone who knows very little of Pickett besides his great recordings and whatever I learned from his UNSUNG episode, I am finding the book to be very interesting. It details the making of each of his albums, his relationship with the various labels he recorded for, his adventures on the road, and his various familial relationships.
IMO, the book is well-balanced, certainly not a Wilson Dearest, but his warts aren't excluded, either.
