Tina Turner's encounters with racism in the Deep South

Maybe she mentioned more of the racism she suffered in "I, Tina" [[including when she was seen in public hugging a white child she was taking care of as a teen living in Tennessee), but I was struck with this story from Tina's book when she, Ike and the Revue tried to get lunch at a diner down South [[doesn't say where but I'm guessing it was in a town in Mississippi or something judging on the book?):

"I remember one time when we were in a diner, we sat down and ordered. But the waitress called the police just because we were black. Then she started yelling, calling me a black b*tch. I jumped up; Ike was trying to hold me back, and I said very clearly, "but I'm a pretty black b*tch", which made me feel better."

I love to get more stories of Tina being confrontational! I know she was still dealing with racism while trying to get a record deal after leaving Ike too and how she feared being turned away from the hotel after she left Ike in 1976.

I love the "My Love Story" book.
