I had heard there was a male group called the The Supremes before. This was my first time hearing and seeing them .

There were several groups once known as the Supremes, prior to Diana, Mary, and Florence's entrance. In fact, Ruby and the Romantics [["Our Day Will Come") were once known as the Supremes.
