And Vivienne's away from her desk right now, being unconventional at a convention, in a convent.
And I'm going back to the Monastery to collect my Pension.
Vivian is NOT a conventional designer!
I like that...........Father 144man!
Or Brother 144 - which makes him sound like a laser printer :)
How bout "O Brother, where art thou?" The Coen Brothers would be impressed!
Give me the Funk Brothers anytime.:D
On that subject....
If you possessed the talent to play any instrument [[maybe you already have!), then which one[[s) would you choose, just to be a part of that Motown Sound - ?
The drums...............like Benny Benjamin!! Boom, Boom, Boom.........
Never played an instrument, but always wanted to play like Benny!!
Me too! BB is the first one I think of, but there were others, of course.
I don't go for the LA recordings as much, simply because they don't have quite that sound, coupled of course with that marvellous bass - James Jamerson.
The other instrument I'd wish to play with the Funk Brothers [[which, when I was young,I did quite well, until I got interested in records, including Motown - so I just stopped!) is the piano. I love hearing the piano on the records, either jazz tinkling along, or being very 'grand'....[[or maybe that should read 'west grand' !:))
I thought I might have just about enough talent to play the tambourine. I was quickly disillusioned when I saw Jack Ashford.
I know. I have no idea how he could play that tambourine, and also remember to breathe at the same time...
UM EXCUSE ME,BUT YOU GUYS ARE STARTING TO ACTUALLY MAKE SENSE...[are we being audited???]AND AS FOR THAT DRUNK ELEPHANT SLIPPERY SAM ON THE CORNER WILL SELL HOOCH TO ANYBODY,WHEN I ASKED HIM HE SAID THAT ALL ELEPHANTS LOOK ALIKE WITH DARK SHADES AND A HAT!!
We're more familiar with those distinctive pink elephants....
Are we being audited?? Well, it IS close to April 15th!!!!
Ssssh, speak softly, moe. Arrr&bee will find that sort of talk very taxing...
A brilliant deduction, westgrand!!!!!!!!!!!!;)
There's no accounting for some folk....
Accountancy goes back to the Garden of Eden. Adam was the first bookkeeper. He turned over a leaf and made an entry.
Was it an entry onto Schedule A?
This girl knows what she's talking about....
Time to turn over a new leaf.
I'd rather plant some roots.........
...and start yourself a Shrub Club, moe....
I'd plant anything you can make alcohol from.
I have to say I'm quite partial to a nice glass of hemlock...
I'll try that if it's the last thing I do...
I do it, and I've lasted quite well...
You really DO look well-preserved, westgrand. And here I thought it was R&B's hooch that was the best "preserver" on the market!!
Ah well, it has to be said that arrr&bee's 'Hooch Original' is the very BEST preserver.
It beats every known jam or marmalade into second place. No contest. Well, all that sugar could kill a person!
Yes, sugar can be lethal. A crate dropped from a window can be fatal if it lands on a passer-by.
I've avoided sugar for decades......
Saccharin's OK, but sugar's hard to beet.
Whenever I go to put in a hot drink, it often appears lumpy.....
There's a grain of truth in that.
The truth, the hole truth, and nothing but half a tooth!
What about Stevia?
I had to Google that one. You're a real life encyclopedia! Are you a jungle woman, moe? You're very up on herbs and shrubs.
So, what can you tell me about Stevia....?
No, not a jungle woman, westgrand, but Stevia is a reasonable alternative when sugar is restricted. I've used it and thought is to be ok. However, the cost is a bit steep.
...and, from what I was reading, it's used as an additive in food/drink, sometimes...?
Is there any aftertaste?
I dated a stevia once her father was a stevadoor,as soon as i found the backdoor i was outta there!!
