TV Commercials
Have you seen the amusing commercial series for Uber Eats with Elton John and Lil Nas X? If you watch any TV at all, you had to have seen some. They are guaranteed to make you smile.

We have also enjoyed the music behind the Applebee's restaurant ads.
The past one with everyone dancing was the best.

Catchy, isn't it?

one of the worst series is the Liberty Insurance series. Whatever ad agency the company uses to produce their commercials should be fired. A guy with an emu for a partner? Not to omit mentioning that "catchy little ditty some quartet repeats the word liberty four times. Yeah, they laid out a load for that one.
-
Sadly, the Limu Emu And Doug commercials are the best that Liberty Mutual airs. The ones that show the Statue Of Liberty in the background while wAcKy HiJiNx ensue on the boardwalk are easily the worst commercials of the past 40 years. Not only are they unfunny, they barely mention the company and seldom suggest any benefit from partnering with it. They're matched by General Insurance for how unprofessional they are, but at least the General tells you they've been a quality insurance company for nearly 60 years.
-
Hey wait a minute here. Ralph if emu quits that poor guy who's his sidekick might not get another acting job,emu is carrying the poor guy.
-
We have become masterful at recording our regular shows, like Jeopardy.
We begin watching the recording a sufficient amount of time later and
speeding through the commercials. Some shows or streaming networks
will not allow speeding through commercials. There is always the mute
button.
-
R&B, I know the guy is just an actor, but he irritates the hell out of me.
-
Too many commercials focus on branding without actually selling the product. Most are horrible because I can't remember what the product is after I stop laughing at them. Following is an example of a commercial that I find hilarious but when I sought it to add to this thread, I completely forgot which beer it was marketing:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUrloq4X7F0
It's one of my favorite commercials from an entertainment standpoint, but it misses the whole point of advertising by assuming that the viewer is paying attention to the beer that the young man is buying.

Another good one is an ad for Alexa, with a couple slow dancing to
"I Only Have Eyes For You" by the Flamingos [1959] -- then and now.
Very sweet.

Since none of you folks watch any TV, I'll add another commercial I like.
The Lincoln Aviator ad is well done. With the song "It's a Most Unusual Day" [1948],
it swings.

Here is Comcast/Xfinity's promo of the animated movie "Sing 2."
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uic3FIIUekE
One of the our favorite Christmas songs "Christmas [Baby Please Come Home.]"
Angie and her family are getting ready to watch "The Moon Theater Christmas Special," but first Angie needs to get home in a snowstorm -- and without her phone. When she runs out of gas, Angie treks through the storm to find help and accidentally bursts upon Buster Moon and the whole "Sing 2" troupe rehearsing for the special. To thank her for helping to patch up one of their performers [and because they're a man down], Moon invites Angie to sing along with them on stage. While her family may miss her at home, they wouldn't miss her performing Darlene Love's "Christmas [Baby Please Come Home.]"
"Sing 2" is rated PG and hits theaters on Christmas.

From a list of bad ads --
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vxd9W0RVgFY&t=13s
Song: My Way by Frank Sinatra
"There’s something about an athlete singing his swan song that’s completely depressing. Frank Sinatra’s crooning voice on “My Way” is a sad reminder that Derek Jeter’s game-changing career is coming to an end. He might not need that sip of Gatorade anymore, so it’s weird for the sports drink to advertise an athlete coming out of his prime."

Friends, have you noticed that What a Wonderful World is currently being used in
three different commercials, none of which uses the Louie Armstrong version?
Maybe we watch too much TV.
My favorite was used in a Vanguard Commercial with a father and daughter finding
a flower growing in a crack of a sidewalk. It is sung by Dana Williams. Very nice.
This one was posted here on 12/18/2021.
Another was used by Celebrity Cruises, and yet a third is in an ad for Save
The Elephants by the World Wildlife Fund [WWF].
