John will be able to tell you more but I think there are some tapes missing from the Motown vault.. I have a feeling 'Heart Trouble' by the Parliaments might be round Ed Wulfruns (?) house ..(sorry about the spelling). Additionally there must be a fair bit of unreleased Ric-Tic / Golden World material if you work on the premise that the majority of their tracks were alloocated to Myto Music I have a BMI print out (somewhere) of all the Myto published tunes and there are loads I've never heard

Someone in Detroit told me that there were lots of tapes from Golden World that were floating around Detroit. I guess it was after Motown had bought them out (Sept 66).

Right Graham. And if anyone knows the where abouts of Heart of the City by The Sunliners I sure would like to know about it. Produced by John Rhys it is probably the best song ever recorded by the band but was never released.

WHIN I WAS LEBARON TAYLORS NEIGHBOUR IN NEW JERSEY HE SHOWED ME ALL OF THE REVILOT MASTERS THAT HE HAD IN HIS GARAGE.I DONT REMEMBER IF HEART TROUBLE WAS IN THERE OR NOT BUT I AM ALMOST CERTAIN THAT IT WAS. IT WAS A SIGHT TO BEHOLD FROM DARYL BANKS ON.
I WANTED TO DO REMIXES BUT IT NEVER HAPPENED.
MAYBE IN THE NEXT LIFETIME!!!

I thought all the Golden World master tapes would have gone to Motown when Berry bought out Wingate. I heard that some GW masters were floating around Detroit, and there were quite a few tapes left in the United Sound studio. Have you seen/heard the CDs that UK company Goldmine released a few yaars ago? They issued a lot of previuosly unreleased Solid Hitbound material.
Having said that - It would be nice to hear what's on those tapes that Lebaron had - where are they now I wonder?

Graham,
The master tapes at Golden World did in fact become the property of Motown. But you have to wonder what tapes left the premisis when the rumor of the imminent sale began circulating.

I have Heart Trouble on a Goldmine (label not the 'zine) compilation... I didn't remember it being on the 'Testify' comp of their pre-Funkadelic material and wandered how much more is out there... similerly, what about live tapes?! I love a number of Motown live lp's but my favourite offhand must be the second (blue cover) Jr Walker one... wish I could have seen Jr or heard him live, a friend taped him in the 80's but can't find the tape... I'm sure more great live stuff exists, like the Marvin Gaye '72 Washington DC show released last year... were any mutineering Parliaments backing these acts? I noticed a number of Funkadelic guys on the Tempts' lp 'For You'- it only took 'em some 29 years to play it live themselves!

Hi Erik
Heart Trouble is on the Goldmine CD - the second version on GSCD119. Tracklisting at:
www.ritchie-hardin.com/goldmine/gscd119.html

Re the Golden World masters - a good number of GW tracks have surfaced on Goldmine CDs, though technically they ought to be Motown copyrights. One for the legal eagles perhaps?

I believe that the 'Heart Trouble' acetate is actually round at Andy Tats Taylor's house, as Ed gave it to him on one of Tats' many visits. Its probably covered in HP Sauce by now. Shame.
