Okay,
I hope that this doesnt sound stupid but I would like some info on the song "Cowboys & Girls"!
1. Who is the artist or group?(the Delphonics I think?)
2. Which studio and city?
3. Any interesting notes regarding the song?
4. Were any of the members of this forum responsible for creation of this song!
I was only six or so when this came out but my Mom & Dad played it so much that I cant get it out of my head
Thank you again

Dm,
It was The Intruders, 1967, recorded at Cameo-Parkway studios, for the Gamble label in Philadelphia, produced by Kenny Gamble and Leon huff, and arranged by Bobby Martin.
The rhythm section was, Norman Harris and Bobby Eli on guitars,Win Wilford on bass, Carl Chambers on drums, Vince Montana on vibes, and Leon Huff on piano.
The group members were:
Samuel (Little Sonny) Brown lead vocals,
Philip Terry, first tenor, Eugene(Bird) Daughtry, second tenor, and Big Sonny on baritone.
It charted gold and was Gamble and Hiff's first gold record.
Bobby Eli, a forum member (who happens to be me)
played guitar on the session.

Bobby - did you play on To be happy is the real thing, by The Intruders? Samuel Browns voice makes the song come to life. It is a 'tonic' pick me up, slow song, but it works. Good lyrics. This 2cd set I invested in of The Intruders was well worth it.
Also, the song 'Together' (1967), I would stick my neck out say that brass intro (not the climbing in unison one) and lick throughout the song is similar to 'Am I the same girl' by Barbara Acklin (and Dusty Springfield to!) from possibly the same year AND 'Give it away' by The Chi Lites. Both songs written by Eugene Record.
Did Vince 'own' the vibes or were they studio 'tackle', saving him from carrying them all over the place?
Cheers

And Bobby,
