Does anyone know what the Dixie Cups of New Orleans are doing these days? They had such fun records "back then". Do they have a web site?
Wonder if they've recorded anything of recent for a fan club or to sell at shows, if they're still performing?

Yes, they are still performing! The two sisters
Barbara & Rose Hawkins with I believe Aaron Neville's wife as the third member. Cousin Joan
Marie has bee ill with sickle cell for many years.
They have been on PBS specials and were at the
Girl Groups Stamp celebration in Cleveland last
August.

I saw the Dixie Cups perform in 2001 for a fire department benefit. They shared the bill with Bill Pinkney's Drifters. The Hawkins sisters were joined on stage by a young lady whose name I don't recall and backed by a big band led by veteran New Orleans producer-arranger Wardell Quezergue (who's featured in the "Deacon John's Jump Blues" CD and DVD).
The trio did its girl-group choreography and sang the hits "Iko Iko," "Chapell of Love" and so on. I imagine the show wasn't much different from a show they would have done 40 years ago.
I don't know if the Dixie Cups played the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival this year, but they were among the 2003 Rhythm and Blues Foundation honorees, and Barbara's picture was in The New York Times.

The Dixie Cups do perform during the time the New Orleans "Jazzfest" takes place which is late April/early May of every year.
