With reference to Philly group the Futures -- anyone know why they were sent to record with Don Davis/Ruby Robinson/Johnny Allen/David Van De Pitte at United Sound Studio by Buddah in 75. By that time the Philly studios themselves were hot. These sessions were produced by the members of the Formations (Silent Majority) so those guys should have had their finger on the pulse back in Philly.
ASSOC QUESTION........Where were the Silent Majority's Hot Wax sides cut. I guess in the Invictus studios in Detroit but can't remember seeing this confirmed anywhere.

JSmith:
Keep in mind that Don Davis and company were no slouches at that time, either. He produced the Dramatics' hits for Stax/Volt, gave Marilyn McCoo/Billy Davis Jr a Grammy-award winning #1 hit with "You Don't Have To Be A Star (To Be In My Show)" & was the force behind Johnnie Taylor's "Disco Lady".

The Futures, although a great group and Philly's version of the Tempts, never had a breakout smash, so Buddah wanted to try Don and company based on his sucess with the Dramatics, being a very similar type of group.

Harry Mc Illsberry wound up with the Tempts, while Frank Washington went with the Spinners, which proves that the members were individually and collectively very talented but were never given that breakout smash that they well deserved.

BTW, John and James King's sister Joanne King had some good singles as well.
