Can anyone tell me about
Cal Green.

I know of his funk stuff on the
Mutt and Jeff Label
(no's 20&22)
and have heard an album of his called
'trippin'with Cal Green'
which is a jazz guitar album in the style of Wes Montgomery and was released on the Mutt and Jeff Label(no.001)

but has he done any other's like the stuff he did for the
Filmtown record label(no.62068)
called
'I'll give you just a little more time/spanky'

or is this two different Cal Green's?

many thanks for any info.

I don't know if this helps, but there's a 'Cal Green' on one of the 'Sound Of Funk' Goldmine comps, "Revolution Pts 1 & 2", slow brooding funkiness...

Thanks for the info
I am trying to find out stuff that he cut away from his jazz and funk material
as I am not really into those modes of music
but will always listen to them if I see them etc.
The type of stuff that I am hoping to find out about is like his material that he did on the Filmtown Record Label as above.
Anyway
always glad for any info whatsoever
cheers Erik.

If this is the same guy as the Midnighters' guitarist, the rumor is that HE wrote "The Twist," not Hank Ballard.

Fury13
thanks for that
I have a bit of early info about Hank Ballard and the Midnighters but am sure that the piece credits Hank as the writer.
But dont quote me
the way things were run back then
well you know as well as me...............
thats a great piece of info
