Hi R&B.

I echo your sentiments. I LOVE my MUSIC! You can take the TV, phone, and other things away. I will fight over my music...It's what keeps me going...REALLY! Like Patti La Belle sang, "MUSIC IS MY LIFE"!

To All:
Music is indeed the friend, the healer and the soundtrack of our lives.

I could not fathom my life without it. If that was ever the case, I'd rather be deaf.

Well, my cousin Larry used to get bored with his bubble maker sometimes. One time one of the trumpeters put anti-freeze into the bubble mix and it really stunk up the studio. Larry thought it was really funny until a bubble burst on his suit and stained it (he was wearing a pale yellow suit). He made the trumpeter rehearse an extra hour for doing it.

Top of pageBottom of page   By B. Foster (209.219.207.3) on Wednesday, July 23, 2003 - 03:05 pm:

Gosh Eddie, speaking of stains, I used to drive a Honda Accord that had seat belts that would automatically pull into place when you started the ignition. Every morning I'd get into the car with a cup of coffee, and as the shoulder belt pulled into place it would jar the cup of coffee I was holding and cause a nasty spill. I'd forget about it by the next morning, and repeat the sequence. After a few months of daily spills and stains, I switched cars with my wife, Babs, for a day. Her car had more conventional seat belts. However, when I switched on the ignition, my reflexes were so well conditioned that I automatically spilled the cup of coffee on myself anyhow. How about that, Eddie?

Top of pageBottom of page   By Eddie Welk, Champagne Music drinker (12.47.224.12) on Wednesday, July 23, 2003 - 03:20 pm:

You know it's really funny, but Larry never drove his car once he got famous. That way he could have a cuppa joe on his way to the studio and not have to worry about stains. He hated stains.
One of his musicians, who I won't name but he played guitar, had a bladder control problem and Larry took his big solo feature away after watching him on the studio monitor one day. Very sad.

Larry drove a Stanley Steamer around Pasadena -- but I guess that was his secret life.

Top of pageBottom of page   By B. Foster (68.41.246.202) on Wednesday, July 23, 2003 - 08:30 pm:

Eddie, what do you think that your cousin Larry would make of these new miracle drugs called statins? I'm wondering cause every time I see that word I think it says stains, and if he hated stains, I wonder if he would take statins?

Top of pageBottom of page   By Eddie Welk, Champagne Music drinker (64.12.97.7) on Wednesday, July 23, 2003 - 09:11 pm:

Oh, Larry would definately take statins to remove stains. And he firmly believed in the status quo too. You'd never catch Larry doing something that could blemish his character, or his trousers.

Teresa Tesla, that is an untruth and you know it! Larry NEVER owned a Stanley Steamer, nor did he ever live in Texas!
Sometimes I think you want to get back at Larry because the Tesla Sisters were never as popular as the Lennon Sisters!

Top of pageBottom of page   By Teresa Tesla (205.188.209.109) on Wednesday, July 23, 2003 - 10:36 pm:

Eddie,
Ha you think you know Larry Welk, but just ask around Pasadena sometime. And I took care of that whiney Kathy Lennon long ago, she doesn't give me any more trouble.

Status Quo did an album of champagne music that I saw on ebay for over 250 UK pounds.

Top of pageBottom of page   By Teresa Tesla (205.188.209.109) on Wednesday, July 23, 2003 - 10:49 pm:

and by the way, Eddie (or is it Eddy??) I heard the Welk Music Group demanded a DNA test on you ...

Top of pageBottom of page   By B. Foster (68.41.246.202) on Wednesday, July 23, 2003 - 11:09 pm:

I saw Status Quo in a steam room in Pasadena once and each one of those guys was way over 250 lbs (US). Not a pretty sight.

Professor Foster, doing more "field" research?

Top of pageBottom of page   By Jim G (12.47.224.12) on Thursday, July 24, 2003 - 07:08 am:

God, Kathy really did whine didn't she? Who can forget her constant barrage of 'I want my own dressing room' or 'Why does that damn accordion player get his own solo spot' complaints?
Larry said she needed a firm hand.

And those rumors about me and Kathy are not true either! She really had a crush on the bass player, but he had a delicate tummy, if you know what I mean. The piano player always put a fan just behind the bass to keep the aroma movin' on.

Was it a Stanley Steam room, B Foster?

Top of pageBottom of page   By B. Foster (68.41.246.202) on Thursday, July 24, 2003 - 07:23 am:

From what I understand, Theresa smacked the wrong Lennon. Kathy got the attention on-camera, but off-camera it was a different story. Peggy was triple-jointed (a physiological rarity) and, perhaps by coincidence, had many gentleman callers. Some attribute the popularity of the act to Peggy's outgoing and extroverted nature. Curiously, Larry said that she also needed a firm hand, as did the other sisters, Gumma and Zeppa Lennon, and several other female members of the ensemble.

Top of pageBottom of page   By Teresa Tesla (64.12.97.7) on Thursday, July 24, 2003 - 09:36 am:

About Peggy -- never trust an accordion player. So what happened with the DNA test, Eddie?

I can't believe the Welk heirs are going to let you have a piece of the action that easily ...

Well, it showed that Kathy and I had twins.
But it's not something we share with too many people, only our close friends know. Larry always thought they were his. But we named them Gasin Sodapup Welk and Miller Stewart Welk.
