Greetings everyone.. Stubass er STUBASS whatever (:).. and Ralph and all.. good to hear you on here.

For some reason I felt an urge this weekend to drop a dime on Ken (thats some Arama-speak there Stubass.)

When Ken mentioned his schedule at Comerica Park I saved a few minutes this afternoon to stop in and visit -we had a good time talking about those old times when I first moved here from Ohio.

I loved Motown then and I'd call the studio and ask Ken if I could come down.. ..it was rarely a problem.

I still remember ringing the bell at Studio B and I'm sure Ralph answered the door, I think I said 'Uh hi I'm Ken's friend and uhh..' And Ralph would motion with a wave 'get in here' and slam the door :)

Man, those were the days.

Thanks HW.. There may be b/w negatives in the basement taken of Ken back in the day, will have to search for them. It seems he hasn't changed much anyway..

A little confusion on my part in the above post re. the front door at Studio B, I really am sure it was Russ who would let me in off the sidewalk at 3246 W Davison..

Ken

Hello there Ken and it is an honour to have your company here on the Soulful Detroit site.

Can you recall your engineer check letter - it is my understanding that it was "S". If that is so, I can trace many recordings with the letter "S" - examples are Love's Gone Bad (the version by the Underdogs), It Should Have Been Me and Didn't You Know You Have To Cry Sometimes (Gladys Knight). We are of course aware of your work on Marvin's "What's Going On" and I guess this might be your proudest work. Can you talk about some of your times as an engineer at Hitsville, the producers that you worked with and how you came to get there?

As a dedicated follower of Henry "Hank" Cosby, have you any stories that you could pass on about him?

Since Ken has a new PC he can now get on here without constant computer crashing. Hopefully this will make him much more regular ..on the forum.

Hi John,
Yes my engineer code letter is "S", however it also was held by someone before me, I think it was Sid McCoy some time before August of 1967.

Hank Cosby was a very nice man, I did Stevies
vocal and harmonica on "For Once In My Life" with Hank and Ron Miller the writer of the tune,
at studio "B" on 8 track,(before the first "Golden World Rebuild").

Hank was very straight forward and competent in finding good raw talent and developing it.
