I tried to find the old thread about the event because I have questions some of you from Detroit might be able to help me with. How far is the Hotel Ponchetrain from the Cass Cafe? Any idea how much by cab? Is there a shuttle bus from the aiport to hotels or should one take a cab.I have found a pkg deal for hotel & airfare on Spirit Airlines that doesn't sound too bad.Thanks for any info. I was planning on coming up on Thursday afternoon so I could possibly see Mrs. Edwards at the Motown Museum on Friday.Thanks again.

Hi Tony

The cafe is approx 2 miles north of the Ponchartrain. Cass runs parallel to Woodward and is one block west of it. A cab should be reasonable from there.

Regarding shuttle buses, I would e-mail your hotel. A cab to downtown Detroit is approx $35-$40. Most of the shuttle buses I've seen are for hotels around the airport or for car hire companies.

Ponchartrain looks like a nice hotel and may be "big" enough to have some kind of shuttle.

Motown singer Frances Nero is in the business of ferrying customers to and from the airport; she's licensed by the city and can deliver you to any downtown hotel. It will basically be a forum get together.

There will also be music celebrating the Detroit Sound.

The music of your late Father, Mike Hanks, will be well represented.

There will also be a few "names" attending.

Mike Hanks was so influential in sixties Detroit.
