Hey, how come there's been no comments about Bettye Lavette's A WOMAN LIKE ME yet? I just got it this week, and I'm on the other side of the world for crying out loud, so what are all your excuses? (smile) (Hint: try www.cdconnection.com - they're cheaper than Amazon!)

Anyway, it's a good 'un - my favourite knee-trembler is "Close As I'll Get To Heaven", which I *think* is written by Aussie singer Renee Geyer (spelled "Rene Gayer" on the insert and booklet for some reason). Bettye - how did you come across this song? I think it's one of your most soulful performances EVER, and that's saying a lot! Though it's kind of ironic that you did it with a song from a white Aussie Jewish girl! And has your itinerary for your Aussie tour firmed up any more?

Thank you so much for your review. I'm so happy you like my new CD.
And Ralph, I know you thought I had dissapeared.
But I've just had a lot going on, along with my computer crashing, and being down for days, and I'm STILL, trying to get a few copies of, MY OWN, cd.
But to bring you up to speed.
I was a presenter at the R&B Foundation Dinner a couple of weeks ago,
I got GREAT! reviews on the CD from, Billboard, The Village Voice and others, I was on "Mountain Stage " last week, (to be aired May 9th)and a whole bunch of other stuff, that I can't go into right now, but I'll get back to you.
