I mentioned her on another board when Steph mentioned George Kerr. Does ANYONE here know where one can find a compilation of her solo work, if such a compilation exists? She's one of my favorite singers.

Steph... this is corny but, I MISS YOU! :-) BJ English is essential... she's just got a sweet instrument. I know I ain't got no business in grown folks music, but trust me, I wasn't always like this. When i was five, I still thought 45s had multiple uses, on the one hand if you put it on the player, I could hear a cool song, on the other hand they made GREAT coasters for me and my Rainbow Brite when we had "afternoon tea."

Wouldn't that be a blast! We could play Deon, and Flo, and all the Barbaras - Mason, English, Lewis, Randolph, McNair. Then watch all those Supremes' Sullivan appearances, girl, we'd have a blast. More friends like me? Do you know what you're getting yourself INTO???

Barbara English is alive and well today, sounding better than ever, singing & performing with the Clickettes (Dice recording group). She is absolutely gorgeous, a very nice person, and has a voice that never misses a note! Awesome! Below is a photo of her with two other Clickettes that I took at the Great Day in Harlem events in NYC in 1999. She is still going strong today, both with the Clickettes, as well as on her own as a solo artist. Most recently I saw her/them perform at a UGHA meeting in August 2002. Current group consists of the 3 originals mentioned and Lorraine Joyner who sang with the Veneers.

Hoping that the foto shows up on my first try, from left to right is: Rose (friend of Barbara), and 3 original Clickettes: Barbara Jean English, Sylvia Hammond Akridge, and Trudy McCartney Cunningham.
