just to keep everyone informed, I spent the day at the NAMM show in Anaheim, CA. Ran into the legendary engineer Al Schmidt at the NARAS booth and he had assured me that the subject of the "Funk Brothers" was very "alive" at NARAS and various details have been bantered about. Nothing solid, but he was very confident in the awareness by the organization to the importance of this campaign.

Any Recording Academy members should also contact anybody who they know on a local chapter's board of governors, especially the Chicago chapter which represents Detroit. Lifetime Achievement Awards are one of the few areas where elected officers of the organization have some real clout!

I was actually meaning we should call any friends who are governors.

The local and national NARAS offices field a million requests a week about all manner of issues. I've spoken with almost everybody I knew when I was a governor but they are mostly in San Francisco while this issue really needs to be at the top of Chicago's agenda.
