Will this woman ever be the star her talent would indicate? Ive always thought her big break- through will be happening but now Im wondering.

I agree Vandelron..
she's one of my favorites and she is an extrordinary singer!!!
Been lucky enough to see her sing, and she has "IT"
By Rodmann (220.127.116.11) on Monday, March 29, 2004 - 12:40 am:
Jennifer Holliday, Cheryl Lynn, Martha Wash, Jocelyn Brown and the list goes on and on! Any one of these woman could sing circles around ANYBODY but they just didn't look the part so they no promotion or support from record labels. I know that Miss Holiday has since slimmed down but by that time she wasn't a spring chicken anymore. I hate it just as much as you do but that's the truth!
By the way, my favorite Jennifer Holliday song is 'I Am Changing'. Amazing!

Her music helped me every day of my life!! That Gospel CD she put out was a winner!!

Jennifer to me had an advantage with her national exposure/Broadway success. I have heard that her tempermanent may have affected her career some, at least in the past.

Sounds like mr tee has some sexuality issues--try to work them out without going after people.

The last time I saw Jennifer Holliday, she was all bleached, chisled, and tucked real tight, and if you didn't know her, you would think she's altogeher a different person...sometimes when they get those nose jobs, they tend to sound very nasal...but I haven't heard her, so I can't say. I hope she sounds like she always has.
By 1Wicked (220.127.116.11) on Tuesday, March 30, 2004 - 10:56 am:
Vandelron: As of last year, nothing had changed WRT Jennifer's temperament. She was the "name" performer at a private function (NMAC)...and was very aloof, cold, & "divaistic" and a disappointment to those that booked her. She sang her one song (to a track) and bailed early. My friend's 7 pc. group was to have appeared before Jennifer...but since she had to leave early, they appeared in the headliner slot and blew the crowd away... turning what was becoming a rather dismal night into the party it was intended to be.

What a misnomer your fake name is...you are not a prettybaby...your ugly post suggests you are an ugly individual inside... get an appointment with your shrink asap...and start taking your meds again. Where are all these fake posters coming from?
By Brother Love (22.214.171.124) on Tuesday, March 30, 2004 - 10:42 pm:
Medusa, if you're going to post something on this site make sure you know what you are talking about before you post it. Jennifer has the say nose that she was born with and has never had it done, I should know. When it comes to bleaching her skin, have you not heard of something called makeup?
By LadyMystique (126.96.36.199) on Tuesday, March 30, 2004 - 10:47 pm:
Yeah, when she sang AND I'M TELLING YOU, I just went WHOA! BTW, something must have been deleted because the posts don't flow right.
By ~medusa~ (188.8.131.52) on Tuesday, March 30, 2004 - 10:51 pm:
First of all, if it's only makeup, that changed her features and her skin color, then I apologize, otherwise, she looked nothing like the first/original Jennifer Holliday. I didn't say she looked bad either. I have a few of her albums, and she looks totally different on all three.
Second of all, DON'T tell me what I see, when I see it,unless you're her make up artist...and if you're not her makeup artist, then may I suggest that you don't say anything else to me about what I see.
By Brother Love (184.108.40.206) on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 - 02:01 am:
You hit it on the right nose this time, yes I am her makeup artist.
By ~medusa~ (220.127.116.11) on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 - 09:21 am:
Right!, and speaking of noses, her nose has been altered, when comparing her photos,it's very obvious..so what's the big deal...and if you're fishing for an apology,(if you're due one) it's in my previous post.
P.S. I still don't believe you anyway~~~~~sorry!
By MrMike (18.104.22.168) on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 - 10:29 am:
Jennifer Holliday is an awesome talent. Her "Feel My Soul" album produced by Maurice White was awesome. The Emotions provided the background vocals for that. I've heard countless stories about the temperament but I'd love for her to come back with a strong R&B recording.

Love all of her work...but that gospel album is my favorite...

Just to set the record straight, BrotherLove is a top makeup artist and has worked with countless entertainers. I do have to say if anybody would know, he would know.
By JACKIE (188.8.131.52) on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 - 06:02 pm:
JENNIFER IS AWESOME. I THOUGHT SHE WOULD HAVE GAINED A LITTLE MORE FAME DURRING HER REIGN. SHE WAS THE BOMB DURRING HER HIGHSCHOOL DAYS. SHE WOULD WIN ALL OF THE TALENT SHOWS. HER APPEARANCE BACK IN THE DAY DID NOT HELP PROMOTE HER MUSIC. IT'S ALL ABOUT THAT SEXUAL APPEAL. SO MANY FULL FIGURED WOMEN ARE LEFT BY THE ROADSIDE WITH BUNDLES OF TALENT.
By ~medusa~ (184.108.40.206) on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 - 09:17 pm:
...and that's good 4 BrotherLove, but I'm sorry, she still looks different on all of her Albums, and when I saw her in the Jet,she looked totally different still. I know she lost the weight, but I'm speaking of her face is so very different.
I never said she looked bad, I never said she sounded bad...but she still looks a lot different from the first time I saw her, facial feature wise.
2 bad he (Brotherlove) didn't get to MJ first, that would've been better, thatn what he's goin' through now.
By Uptight (220.127.116.11) on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 - 09:50 pm:
If there were any alterations in her nose, it was altered in appearance only with contouring (makeup...without a nose job). I believe she lost over 200 lbs, so of course her face will change shape, too.
By Linda Di. (18.104.22.168) on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 - 09:50 pm:
I swear to you that Jennifer has NOT had any surgery. That's my word, and I don't give it out unless I know.
By ~medusa~ (22.214.171.124) on Thursday, April 01, 2004 - 09:15 am:
Ok, Linda Di, all a person has is their word and that's that...
I must say Brotherlove must be helluva.
Maybe one day,he can do makeovers of us SDForum Ladies...
I would love to see more of his work...
Damn he's good.
By Linda Di. (126.96.36.199) on Thursday, April 01, 2004 - 02:17 pm:
If you could see what he did to me, you would be stunned. He turned me into glamour like I've never known. Someday maybe we can find out -- perhaps at a SD convention?? Maybe we can get him there!
By ~medusa~ (188.8.131.52) on Thursday, April 01, 2004 - 04:48 pm:
Question...Why are these kind of people always standing in the shadows of something or someone? you'd think they would get more credit than they do...afterall, if they can change a being Attractive into Glamour..I mean make a "Star" who they are, then why can't they shine?
By Linda Di. (184.108.40.206) on Thursday, April 01, 2004 - 04:59 pm:
I think most people prefer anonymity online, but still shine in their daily lives. I know quite a few folks who post here or especially who lurk here who do not want to be identified. You'd be surprised if ya knew who was reading the posts. That's why I TRY to be as kind as I can be (I'm guilty of not always being successful at that). But I think we'd all be surprised if we knew that often real feelings get hurt when the people we write about are reading our posts.

I wish that people would stop lurking & step out of the shadows. This is a forum & I'd love to hear their opinions. I understand what you're saying Lindi Di, sometimes in certain threads, it does get a bit vicious. I didn't think that Medusa said anything that was vicious, or, with the intent to hurt. It was a pretty reasonable statement under the circumstances
By the way Medusa, you don't need any cosmetics, or, surgery. You're naturally lovely & that's better that all of the camouflage, base & foundation combined.
By Linda Di. (18.104.22.168) on Thursday, April 01, 2004 - 06:35 pm:
I didn't mean to imply anything about what Medusa said. We're cool!

I remember seeing Linda Di back when she was going to concerts in Rochester NY and she has sent me her business card which has a recent photo of her.
She looks as beautiful now as she did when I first saw her in the 1980s.

Awwwww ... that's sweet of you, Kevin. And you saw me next to Freda Payne. Ha! Now that's quite a compliment. She is beyond gorgeous.

~~~but thanx 4 the compliment anyway Juicefree
Linda Di, imagine the voice of Arnold Horshack: So Linnnnda, how about showing us a pikkturrrre? I'm sure that Kev doesn't lie. Kev meets everyone, Juice meets no one. Can't you just hear the strains of violins in the background, as I moan about my wretched fate
Medusa, you are much too modest. Maybe you have gone to the Juicefree School Of Cutting & Pasting Pictures???? Again, you're too modest, hell, you have a fan club!
