Was it the legendary lady 'Martha Reeves' or her compadre on Arista LINDA LEWIS, or Angela Bofill or Roberta Flack? this as you may recall was a lovely composition by GWEN GUTHRIE and Pat Grant. on the LINDA LEWIS version JUNE DENIECE CHANDLER WILLIAMS along with a slew of other heavy background singers did the backups...LINDA LEWIS has a collection out now that's really worth checking out. If you like Minnie, Niecy,Syreeta, etc ....I think you'd like Ms LINDA LEWIS! let me know ! t.y. |

La Brenda, I believe that Linda RECORDED the song first, but Gwen wrote it for her. In 1986 I had the pleasure of producing the great Linda Lewis and her sisters Dee and Shirley for Billy Gaff's Riva label in the U.K. We did the ORIGINAL version of Cant wait another minute (Five Star) but the publisher renegged on the exclusive he gave us and therefore Five Star beat us to it. However, there were some other great songs including a marvelous version of So good, so right, on which Linda shone like a flawless diamond!! |

Right U are, Bobby! And no chance that they did both songs, correct? As I recall, I believe that THE O'JAYS had that song on Imperial Records -- the same that time CHER was w/ I.R. By the way, the real Grubman lawfirm is really grateful to U & me. At that time, they e-mailed a nice Thank U note to me and called w/ thanx, too! Actually, U and maybe even SDF probably got the same thing. Anyway, we took care of the crayzee kreep! I also despised that "he/it" was using the SDF Board as the public stage for his dirty, phony "work" and trying to cause trouble for the administrators. Next up? MARTHA loves that "Sweeter" song, which is why she sang it in her live show for 20 years (1975-1995)! I may fly out to Dee-troit to be w/ her & the girlz for M-45 telecast on Mon. eve.
