Stormy Forest SFS-6011 "A CHILD'S DREAM" LP
Prod : Eddie Kramer

It's probable that some, if not all, of the SF singles come from the album. Eddie Kramer worked
mainly in New York so I doubt that the album
is a Detroit recording.

Stormy Forest was an MGM distributed label owned
by Richie Havens - I've seen the album described
as "folky" but haven't heard it - in fact I've never seen a copy.

Wow Davie ...

That's very cool. I'll do a printout and show it to Kris next week, see what else she remembers.

That picture link doesn't work though?

Ok.. so I'm getting exicited about July 20th and the 50's & 60's Reunion. So, gang, let's settle this once and for all! I am saying this because I was there and know no other "white guy" that sang and made a living singing and playing a guitar.. not in a band but by himself.. singing black music.. know today as ROCK 'N ROLL!

I know I was the first on WXYZ'S Ed McKeinze show.. first rock singer on the stage at the FOX. I'm not saying I had the first rock band! The band I later formed was George Young & the Youngsters which was actually a showband with top-notch musicians.

BUT... I am saying that I... GEORGE YOUNG... was the FIRST ROCK 'N ROLL SINGER IN DETROIT.. starting in 1950!

A few years later, in Germany, I met and became friends with Elvis (Bad Nauheim, Germany). He had the same problems that I had in Detroit. There were the "power people who were against it... but, the audiences loved it and the power people couldn't stop it.

At the time I was singing and guitar my Fender guitar (the first one in Michigan. I bought it Bay City). there was no such word as rock 'n roll! They called me a novelity act. I worked the Flame, Gay Haven, 509, Dell's Inn, Fairs, etc.

What am I doing now? I've been producing and performing my own brand of game shows for special events! It's a big hit for me! It enables me to stay in the business!

Hey George,
You were always a favorite of mine. And yes the Youngsters had top notch players.

It works! That's funny, I know Keith Owens and I didn't realized Kris had played with him. She says she last was gigging with the Sun Messengers on and off, doing a jazz thing.
