I would like an open forum on Frances Nero. I need to speak with someone who heard the announcement of me winning the WCHB Talent contest.Does anyone have a picture or newspaper article? I need to speak with someone who was at the Fox theatre when I won the contest. Who bought my records? I sold 10,000 without being promoted. Does anyone have a copy of a song called Lady In Waiting that I recorded for Eddie Singleton and Raynoma Gordy? Berry's ex-wife?

Hi Frances

You can't get rid of me. It's your #2 fan! Somebody out there must have a copy of 'Lady In Waiting' (in some form or other) and we'd all like to hear it!

Hello Frances

What a lovely surprise to see you here on the Forum. I do hope you will hang around for a while to chat to us and tell us some of the stories that we all yearn so much. DeAnne and Marilyn are two star rare picture contributors - let us hope that they are able to help you find a momento of that day when you won the contest.

Meanwhile, can I ask a few questions please.

1. When did the contest take place and can you recall any other contestants?

2. Did you only record at Hitsville USA for Motown - studio "A" and where did you record with Miss Ray and Eddie Singleton.

3. You told me in 1990 (at the Embassy Exhibition with Hattie Littles and Claudette Robinson) that you only recorded "Keep On Lovin' Me" and "Sure Thing" aka "Fight Fire With Fire". Were you assigned any other tracks and whihc producers were you expecting to work with in the future...and what did happen?

PS Have to dash now, I hear some footsteps following me!!! LOL!!

Hi Frances

Good to see you on here. A great surprise! Tell us more about the competition. What was the song you performed and the atmosphere like? Did you make any friends at Motown after you recorded there and do you still see them?

Cheers

Did I once read that Frances (big welcome!) beat a young Ronnie McNeir into second place in the contest to record for Motown?

I put a plea for Frances' unreleased track 'Lady in Waiting' on an earlier topic under her name. She also recorded 'For Your Precious Love' with Gino Parks which remains unreleased and waiting somewhere on tape to be found by us lot!

Hello Frances!

Don't know if you remember, but you and I met about ten years ago when Ian Levine was in Detroit. I was doing PR for Quality Records and we had a press conference at Masterpiece Studios. We also had dinner at the St. Regis with Kim Weston, the Andantes, and others whom I can't remember right now...oh, the Elgins were there too. Great to see you on the forum...think we can get Sylvia on here? I told her about it!

Millie

Hi Francis!
I met you at a record collector's show a few years ago. I was the one that had the Club Mello TV show with Larry Dixon on channel 20. You were on the show once. I'll be at the Roseville show this Sunday,if you get a chance to drop by.

John,
now you're contradcting everything you ever insinuated regarding me and women. Of course Millie could charm me.Why not?? She is beautiful and intelligent and a very dear friend. However, the reality is...if someone is female and has a pulse, then I am capable of being charmed.

Ralph & John,
Please stop fighting over me...Ralph, everything you said about me is true, however, I am still just a lowly human being and can only do so much! John, I've spoken with Sylvia several times, and promise you in time that she will be on the site! Ralphie I'm going to miss you this weekend...Steve Fischer's coming in town and we're all going to the Clawson Inn! Sure wish you'd visit your old home town! Oh, by the way, I called Fred Saxon and he gave me Al DiNoble's phone number...Pete Rivera didn't respond to my e-mail!

Hello everyone...I just emailed Frances, who is having a slight problem getting back on the forum. I am posting so the thread will move to the top so she can find it.

Lov-u-Ali (which means, I love that Ollie Woodson) :o)

Hi Everyone, The Forum is all new to me so you have to give me a chance to get used to it. I remember the lady abd the dinner. I also remember when I met the lady at the record collector's show. You gave me a number to get in touch with Larry Dixon. We chatted a while but he never called back to set a date. Does he have any press or anything on me? To the gentleman's question, Ronnie McNeir came 2nd to me in the contest. Belita Woods was also in it. I was very intimidated by her because she sounded like Aretha Franklin. Mr Scott told me not worry about that because the world already had an Aretha Franklin. He says my voice is a original one. I did a recording with Gino Parks for Ray and Eddie but I can't remember the name of it. I also recorded for a lady named Addie Stricland. Just so I can have some fun, would each and everyone of you who have heard me, please describe my voice. to me I sound like a 2 year old.

Frances-
You'll probably have to call Larry back yourself. He's not really good about calling people back, but he WILL meet with you. I'll be at the record show in Roseville (VFW)sunday,if you want to drop by.
